There's no denying that times are tough

Across New Zealand, businesses are feeling the pressure of rising costs, tighter budgets and an uncertain economy. When money is tight, It's understandable that some things get pushed back. But one thing that should never be overlooked is safety of the people who turn up to work every day.

Behind every high-vis or machine operator is someone's Mum or Dad, someone's son or daughter, someone's partner. In 2024, 70 people lost their lives in work-related incidents according to the data from WorkSafe New Zealand (https://data.worksafe.govt.nz/graph/summary/fatalities). Training and competency aren't about ticking boxed. They are about giving people the knowledge and confidence to recognise hazards, operate machinery safely and look after both them and those working alongside them. This is because at the end of the day, every worker deserves to make it home safely, and every family deserves to know their loved one is coming home.
